WAUKEGAN, Illinois – The Chicago Bears 2015 season is over with
the Bears winning one more game this season (6-10), under first year head coach
John Fox, than last season (5-11). It was another season ending without a
playoff appearance, but it didn’t lack exciting moments, down to the final
minute finishes and plenty of reasons to look forward to next season.
Here are my top three exciting moments of the season:
1.
Bears
defeat Packers: The most exciting moment by far happened on Thanksgiving night. The Bears went into Lambeau Field, on the night Brett Favre’s jersey was
to be retired, and pulled off an upset victory against the Packers. Not only
did the Bears ruin the Packers’ historic night, it was also Jay Cutler’s first
ever win in Lambeau Field. The most exciting part of the game was the finish when
the Bears stopped Aaron Rodgers four downs from the eight-yard line. The Bears
defense held together when they needed it most and sealed the victory for the
Bears. I remember after the victory just feeling pure excitement; the Bears
finally beat the Packers, Cutler finally won in Lambeau and it all happened on
Thanksgiving night. It is a night Bears fans will never forget and by far the
most exciting moment of the 2015 season.
2.
History
on Monday Night: The second most exciting moment was the Monday Night victory
over the Chargers. Not only was there a historic record broken, there was a
one-handed touchdown catch and another come-from-behind win for the Bears. Prior
to the Monday Night game, Cutler was only one passing touchdown shy of becoming
the Bears all time touchdown passing leader. On a simple play action bootleg,
Cutler found a wide open Martellus Bennett for the touchdown. Cutler surpassed
the great Sid Luckman with his 138th touchdown pass. The Bears
trailed the entire game and then in the fourth quarter, with a little over
three minutes left, Cutler threw a bullet over the middle of the field, and
tight end Zach Miller made a spectacular one-handed catch to put the Bears up
21-19. The Bears went on to win their third game of the season with a final
score of 22-19.
3.
Comeback
win against Chiefs: The third most exciting moment of the season was Cutler’s heroic performance in the fourth quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs. The
Bears offense struggled to put up points the entire game, but with a little
over three minutes left in the fourth quarter, Cutler threw a beautiful ball
over two defenders into the hands of Marquess Wilson for a touchdown. This was
the Bears first touchdown of the game, but were still trailing 12-17. Then with24
seconds remaining in
the game, Cutler dropped the snap, had a defender draped
all over his leg and threw the game winning touchdown to Matt Forte. The Bears
won with a final score of 18-17. |
